Big Twelve Baseball Tournament 2015 and Rogers Vacation

May 22-26

We love going to the baseball tournament every year.  Most of the time it is in OKC and we can stay at home.  This year, it was moved to Tulsa so we got to go enjoy some new senery.  We were lucky to get a nice room in downtown Tulsa and walk to the ball park.  Mollie had a blast riding on Nate’s shoulders and of course, my Nate was too excited to be there to watch his favorite sport.

Mollie had her first taste of cotton candy… she’s a fan.  They also had a neat little play place in the outfield so she got to enjoy some sliding.  It was a great night.

The next morning started with smiley face pancakes at ihop and on to Rogers, AR for Bethany’s wedding.  We went a day early to enjoy some extra time together.  Mollie loved swimming in the pool.  We did some shopping…. Went to the U of A to see my name on the sidewalk… Met Jason and Julie for some cupcakes…. And Brian and Gina for dinner… Then of course, we built-a-bear!

 

 

Nate did an awesome job at Bethany’s wedding and it was really great to be able to catch up with some of the greatest people we know.  Our time in Rogers will always be special to us and we still deeply love all our people there.  It’s comforting to know they will always be there for us.

 

And, then it is always wonderful to go back home.  We will never take that for granted.

God said, “It is not good for man to be alone…”

On July 9, Allie and Corbin got married.  I can remember bugging her about when they were going to start dating…. like in this picture I put on facebook in 2006 with the caption “I’m not saying anything.” It was taken at our house while watching LOST.  Ahhh, those are some good memories.

I feel like Nate and I really got to watch these two grow up and I can’t wait to see where God leads them in the future.  I look forward to talking about being in ministry together.

To Allie,

Your wedding was so beautiful, but what was even more stunning was the radiant love that you two share for our Heavenly Father and each other.  It still brings a tear to my eye when I think about Corbin standing at the alter waiting for you, or watching you both pray for each other and your marriage.  I feel like you guys are a lot like us and I am excited for you to fall more in love with each other and Him as you serve side by side.  Being married is the greatest!  My one piece of advice is to be selfless… in your marriage and your ministry.  Always think of each other before you think of yourself.  Always keep God’s will as the first priority in ministry and remember that He will make everything right.  Everyone will always have more things or answers or normalcy, but find hope and peace in the fact that we are working for a bigger purpose.  Trust Him… and trust each other… and life is a piece of cake ;)  We love you guys and will always be here for you.  We look forward to catching up every now and then so keep us in the loop of what is going on at the Hobbs house.

It is always great to go back to Rogers and see some of the people that we miss the most. Nate was privileged to do a wedding for a former student. Seems crazy that we are old enough/been married long enough/been in ministry long enough to have former students from our youth groups getting married.

It was a beautiful wedding at Whitney Mountain Chapel.

August 19, 2010 Nate and I are more in love today than we have ever been. This last year has been hard on both of us, but we just chalk it up to life experience and try to stay positive. God continues to take care of our needs and we continue to serve Him daily in everything we do. Our big celebration will come when we leave for the Bahamas one week from today! On our actual anniversary we went to The Cheesecake Factory. Mmmm.

Memorable Moment #1: Our Wedding

When I think back on the life that I have lived so far, there are definitely certain memorable moments that stand out. I want to write about these things and what I learned from them.... if I learned anything. Nate and I met when his dad came to be the pastor in the church where I grew up. I remember that day and how I was just a little kid and he was a big bad high schooler. ha. I never thought about us as a couple, but knew that we would be good friends just because we were both always at church. We both remember me talking about how my pen matched my shirt (I was nervous). On March 19, 2000, God answered my prayer and gave me a boyfriend. haha. But really, I never knew what a blessing that would turn out to be. I am a very loyal person and I quickly learned that Nate is too. We dated all through my high school days and his college years. When we got engaged in May 2005, I didn't think twice about saying yes. So, I will never forget a lot about our dating relationship... like how we had a phone date every night at 8:00 while he was in college... but the real story started when we were married on August 19, 2005.

After only having two months to plan, we really did have the sweetest little wedding. It wasn't hard finding a venue or a pastor.... I had all these plans in my head already so we made it happen. I wanted a lot of white, so my mom made a huge curtain... bam, decorated. I remember my Aunt Jana on top of scaffolding hanging it. I got my own flowers and did all the boutonnieres and bouquets. It was a very personal wedding because my mom and I did everything ourselves... even the bridesmaid dresses. The reception was full of our favorites snacks and pictures of us. It was a great day full of family and friends. The thing I remember the most if the song that Nate wrote and sang for me. It was so sweet and the lyrics are framed and always hanging in our living room. To both of us it was kind of a blur, but really one of those days that we will never forget.

From this day on I have really learned all about love. Love is selfless.... Love is always thinking about Nate before I think of myself.... Love is being ok with having nothing else but each other.... Love is the best feeling/emotion in the world. Nate and I truly can love deeply because we know the love of our Savior, and He is the center of our relationship. We love way beyond our years. We have already been through things that married couples never have to go through, and we are each other's rocks. I pray everyday for Nate and our wonderful marriage.... please let us have many more happy healthy years together :)
