Baby Showerin’ It Up

I am so blessed to have such great friends and such a giving church family.  Man, did we get showered…  I was so excited to finally get some baby stuff!

Nate and I have been very frugal throughout this whole pregnancy.  I always pictured myself buying cute little girl things as soon as I found out I was pregnant.  That, my friends, was just a thought.  We found out very quickly how we were going to have to save the moolah, so we hadn’t bought anything.  Like nothing.  I was telling everyone that I would feel so much better if I had a carseat and a bottle. ha.  Welp… got those things now and it’s awesome!

Church Shower 015 These great friends really threw us the cutest shower in history.  Everything was so precious… and purple!

Hostesses:  Natalie Reid, Shannon Olson, Kerri Nelson, Katrina Gillham (due in January), Me, Melissa Tennyson (she looks pretty stinking hot to have just had a baby huh?), Hollie Fuller (due in April), and Margaret Oden.  (Lauren Wendt, not pictured)Church Shower 001 Church Shower 002

The decorations were just super cute.  The food had a “Ready to Pop” theme.  Everything was popping ;)  We enjoyed some popcorn, poppyseed muffins, cake pops, fruit pops, and soda pop.

We played a cute little game where I had to guess how Nate answered a few questions.  We did pretty good.  I would say 90% or so…. I know my husband’s brain.

And then it was on to the gifts. I am glad that I made had Nate with me to open all the presents. I was exhausted by just opening the cards. ha

It was a great Sunday afternoon, and I am just so grateful for all the goodies.  Mollie has a ton of clothes now, so I’m hoping for a ton of diapers at the next shower.

I was glad to have my mom and nana come too!  I totally forgot to take a picture with them, so that stinks, but we are having a family shower this Saturday and I won’t forget again.

I’ll end this heavily loaded post with a few more pictures:  live action, me eating, and the three BFFs.

Project Scarves. Operation Christmas.

I love to give gifts.  It is one of my favorite things to do.  It let’s your friends and family, or maybe even complete strangers, know that you are thinking of them.  Why not give a little?  The reward you will feel on the inside is way better than anything you can receive on the outside.

However, gifts at Christmas time is a different story.  Don’t get me wrong… I still love to give.  I just don’t love to forget what the holiday is all about, ya know?  Like the Savior of the whole world’s birth.

So this year to save some moolah (we do have two mortgage payments right now) and to minimize the gift hype, I decided to make infinity scarves for all the women in my life.  And there are a lot of women in my life… so it took a few nights at the sewing machine.

024 In the end, I was very pleased with how the turned out and even a little inspired to sew other things.  We will see…
